SOS Children's Village eV

Already donated 1.6 million euros!

Since the introduction of Happy Dog Sensible Africa and Mini Africa in May 2009, Happy Dog has donated 2% of the purchase price of every Africa package sold (from 1 kg) to SOS Children's Village institutions in Africa. Thanks to this great campaign, 1.6 million euros have already been donated (as of early 2020).

Since the expansion of the primary school in Rutana / Burundi was completed with the support of Happy Dog, we can already support the next project: "Education for a better future in Africa".
Due to poverty and violence, around 124 million children and young people in Africa are unable to attend school. Together with SOS Children's Villages, we would like to take countermeasures. In cooperation with educational authorities, schools and community organizations, the children should be given free access to high-quality education. Because the path to professional life is only open to them with a good school education. With the purchase of Happy Dog Sensible Africa and Mini Africa you support the financing of numerous items:

environmental Protection

For love of nature!

“Environmental protection is an important corporate goal for us. We want to relieve and protect the environment. For us, this is an obligation towards future generations of humans and animals, ”explains Georg M?ller, owner and managing director of Happy Dog.

These measures are a matter of course for us:

We cover an increasing part of our electricity consumption with our own photovoltaic system and thus save CO2, crude oil and other resources
Our modern production facilities protect the environment and save water and energy. Since 2014 we have been able to save 10% of energy per kilogram of pet food produced
All cardboard packaging is made from 100% recycled paper
We use up to 80% raw materials from the region, because short transport routes mean less environmental pollution
We take part in the dual system (Green Dot) and aim to make our packaging increasingly recyclable

We plant trees!

Forests Reforestation: Billion Tree Campaign

Our principle in climate protection is: reduction before compensation .

Nonetheless, there are unavoidable emissions in the production of dog food. That is why we have been supporting the reforestation of forests by the climate protection organization Plant-for-the-Planet since the beginning of 2011 .

In 2019, more than 8,000 trees were planted for Happy Dog, of which each tree can absorb around 200 kg of CO2 in the course of its life.

Association for the German dog industry

Official partner of the VDH

The Association for the German Dog Industry (VDH for short) is the leading advocacy group for all dog owners in Germany - the first address for everything to do with life with dogs, dog sports and dog breeding.
We at Happy Dog work closely with the VDH and, with our commitment, regularly promote the association's activities and events. Every year at the beginning of June is the day of the dog nationwide.

It is celebrated with hundreds of events from dog clubs, veterinary institutions and many other organizations.
As the official partner of the VDH, Happy Dog supports the organizers every year in their campaigns with a generous number of food samples that can be distributed to all participants.

K9 search dog center

Tracking down missing people and animals

The search dog center under the direction of Alexandra Grunow and Rovena Lankau trains dogs that can track people based on their smell. In addition to training K-9 TrailTrainers, they have been helping the police and the LKA throughout Germany on a voluntary basis in the areas of rescue and forensics in real-life missions to track down missing people or pets. "Our dogs track down the lost before they are lost forever", describes Alexandra Grunow her work.

Happy Dog supports the search dog center with food and material donations, joint campaigns and events.

Dogs & Storks - Dogs & Babies

Newborn and Young Child Safety Program

Happy Dog supports the “Dogs & Storks” program as well as the follow-up program “Dogs & Babies” with the aim of increasing the safety of newborns and toddlers in households with dogs and reducing the number of dogs that are given away as the family grows. With the support of Happy Dog, lectures for pregnant women with dogs can be offered free of charge.

What makes “Dogs & Storks” and the follow-up program “Dogs & Babies” unique?

All content is based on scientific analysis, behavioral science and modern animal training and is running successfully with over 200 speakers in America, Australia, Asia and Europe. In Germany, Austria and Switzerland the two programs are coordinated by Mag. Bina Lunzer, cert.CBST.

So that zoo animals can be kept as species-appropriate as possible, many measures are necessary: optimally designed enclosures, individual occupation of the individual animal species and species-appropriate feeding of the animals are just a few examples that modern zoos take into account today.
